Regarding Gemstar:

I recently had the experience of switching from DirecTV service, to cable. I much preferred the DirecTV, for a lot of reasons. One of which was that the on screen guide on DirecTV was, I thought, much better than the one on the cable service I got, which is called Starsight.

Does Gemstar have anything to do with the on-screen guide avialable through DirecTV? If so, what. If not, are they competitors in a sense?
