Tenchu, Will AMD abandon the slot package? and go socket as Intel seems to be doing? Possibly reserving the slot for system approaches that require extra cache, such as grouped server parts? This would certainly cut the cost of low end entry for the Athlon.
As to the Via decision to make all in one products for the low end, that will only work if they land running in that business, an unlikely situation...it will take a few years and business from others will come in very handy.
I am sure AMD will take measures to ensure a chip set supply from somewhere, even themselves as they have the design ability to do it.
