I agree that cost has been and to some degree still is an issue,
but I have not seen anything relating to cost comparisons between
epitaxial and SIMOX wafers for some time. IBIS has made improvements
such as with their Advantox product which has a throughput up to 3 times
that of their previous SIMOX wafers.

I read something a while back about SIMOX being twice the cost of
epitaxial wafers, but that was from someone from SOITEC and he referred
to "standard" SIMOX. At that time the only thing that could be referred
to as 'standard' was SIMOX wafers from the old NV200's which IBIS is
phasing out.

Lastly, MOT has already forked over the money for a dedicated implanter
and now gets SIMOX wafers at a discount from IBIS.
