Thanks for the response and the info. According to the Diamond Lane product managers, they had been using ADI exclusively and are switching to ST exclusively. I pulled out a line card, and they were undoubtedly ADI chips. The reason for this was stated as the Alcatel technology being more effective and that it offers higher density. It is possible that these guys were not intimate with certain details. It would not be the first time. I am going to DSLCon next week so expect to uncover a bit more. One trend I have noticed is that Alcatel's major presence with the telcos seems to be resulting in some DSLAM vendors switching to Alcatel silicon. Apparently their technology is pretty good or other DSLAM vendors feel a need to interoperate with Alcatel stuff.
