The SEC and NASD do take action against Market Maker manipulation, which those of us on SI or RB with Level 2 service have noticed is a very pervasive problem these days. Here is a NASDAQ lawsuit for over one billion dollars due to MM manipulation of over 1600 stocks. nasdaqlitigation.com This is just a settlement on spread manipulation of NASDAQ stocks. Just think how big a suit might someday be lodged against MM's of BB stocks who do a lot more than charge an extra little bit on the ask. If your stock is affected by MM manipulation you may want to notify the SEC at the following email address: enforcement@sec.gov or call your district SEC or NASD office.
