Paul: Thank You for your Significant Contribution to my re-education!!! (I'm 100% in techs....Intel, Adtran, 3Com, Atmel, & Oracle.) REgarding competing technologies: Short Term; any opinion on regional Bells ISDN/HDSL/ADSL role....& how this impacts INTC....over the near term?....say one-two years? Adtran (GTE's "1966 Supplier of the Year") was selected this week to provide ISDN ("Outreach") & enhanced HDSL systems....to PACBELL (a SBC Communications subsidiary....& an acknowledged regional Bell leader in ISDN) for the next two years. (Adtran's stock reacted +19% yesterday....after the announcement....23 3/4 to 28 1/2.) Why are Bells spending so much on ISDN & HDSL....relative to ADSL....or other technology? Any opinion on Adtran?....or Mark Smith, the founder & CEO?....(whose previous company was acquired by Motorola.) Long term: What is your opinion for a roadmap (a PERT chart) of how competing techologies ....considering costs, demand, etc....will emerge....& converge into the future world of "unlimited universal pipeline of 0's & 1's." Wireless?....Coax?....or Cu+? Which technology will be the big winner?....or do you envision major markets for all?? IMO Intc is a long term "no brainer." Meanwhile, any comment would be appreciated regarding short term emerging opportunities....such as IMHO Adtran....&/or the future of competing technologies. O U 1 Dinner (drinks included) JB
