JAKARTA, Sep 22, 1999 (Asia Pulse via COMTEX) -- Computer assembling
company PT Zyrexindo Mandiri Buana (Zyrex) said it has managed to grab
a 7% share of server market in the country during the second quarter of
this year.

Werner Sutanto, the country manager of Intel Indonesia Corp which
grants the production licence for Zyrex, said the firm's success
indicated that local server firms could compete well against foreign
vendors.

PT Zyrex is one of three computer companies operating under licence
from Intel Corp. The two other companies are PT Mulcion Persada
International (Mugen) and PT Galva Technologies Corp (GTC).

A report from International Data Corporation (IDC) said the server
market in Indonesia was dominated by six vendors in the first quarter
of this year. The six vendors include Compaq with a market share of 40
per cent, Hewlett Packard, with a market share of 28%, IBM with 10%,
Zyrex with 7%, Acer with 6% and Dell with 5%.

IDC said PT Zyrexindo Mandiri Buana recorded a 2.8% increase in sales
in the second quarter from the first quarter and PT Multicom Persada
International chalked up a 2.8% rise in sales in the same period.

Other vendors also reported an increase in sales. (ANTARA)
