Riker,
When the results are finally known, I think you'll be quite
shocked at the things that were done--and not by Laird.
If I can offer any advise that seems to be of a moderate
nature, it would be: don't believe anything UP says. Well, I guess that isn't exactly a moderate view, but it is one that will hopefully serve you well in understanding what has
gone on. It is my wild guess that the UP folks said
some things at the hearing that they won't ever want to have
brought up in a trial. In this hearing both sides could
basically state their points and anything else they thought
sounded good and hope the judge believed them. This works
great if there is no injunction or never goes to trial.
But boy, howdy, if things were said in the hearing under
oath by either side
and the case goes to trial whoa,
pity the poor SOB that has to try and squirm out from under
false statements given in the hearing and depositions.
The hole just gets deeper. In my lay opinion, this was
a final bluff to try and queer the deal. If the judge
doesn't find in favor of the Pinedale Partnership, then
it was a good bluff. If she does, Ouch and double ouch!
It's a whole 'nother ball game. Time will tell. Even if
the judge rules in favor of UP, other legal avenues will
be initiated.
