From the AMC website, Product and Services:

Today's home users and small to medium-sized businesses want the same types of speeds and services that large companies enjoy. But they need a cost-effective solution that is easy to install and operates transparently, without any intervention or ongoing technical support.

For users that cannot get cable modems or ADSL, and also want the capability to receive high quality video, the satellite is the best option to consider.

AMC has created the SatExpress satellite-based network to provide DVB-compliant, TV-quality video broadcast and multicast services, Internet TCP/IP voice, data and video streaming media and web content. The AMC network is integrated with existing wireline networks to provide high-performance, interactive high-speed services, and is the only network that provides DVB video to the desktop or TV simultaneous with TCP/IP data on the PC.

The SatExpress network provides state-of-the art capabilities previously available only to the Fortune 500 companies. Users get maximum use of the Internet, the World Wide Web and email, along with all the new business productivity opportunities.

Dial-up access solutions are too slow to support the latest Internet applications. ISDN's dial-up rate of 128 kbps is often cumbersome and inadequate, high-speed leased-line alternatives are cost-prohibitive for most small and medium-sized businesses, and DSL service has a distance limitation. The SatExpress network gives the user the benefits of a leased line, including instant network access, at a substantially lower cost.

High-Speed Internet Services

Through the SatExpress network users have a choice of several high-speed downstream data rates: 64Kbps, 128Kbps, 160 kbps, 200 kbps, 416 kbps, 784 kbps, 1.04 Mbps and 1.54 Mbps plus high quality DVB video. And, the asymmetric bandwidth of the terrestrial upstream path matches the requirements of most Internet business applications.

The SatExpress network eliminates the poor performance and busy signals of analog modems and avoids the complexity of ISDN at a fraction of the cost of T1 leased lines.

The SatExpressâ Network

Low cost high-speed services have become a competitive requirement for today's "push" and "pull" business applications, including intranets, extranets, virtual private networks (VPNs), email, electronic commerce, Web hosting, videoconferencing, collaborative computing, multimedia and more.

The AMC SatExpressâ network provides low cost 2-way interactive services direct to the desktop via satellite. A high-speed satellite return channel is available in speeds of multiples of 64Kbps up to 384Kbps for interactive corporate, institutional and government applications.

The satellite return path minimizes the request path dataflow, maximizes the throughput overall, and eliminates the need to install additional dedicated fiber lines. Ideal use of this technology is connectivity between the US backbone and other countries where the demand for Internet access is exploding.

2 Watt KU Band Radio

A small two-way satellite based terminal located at the customer site that provides Internet Access and Video Broadcast rates up to 32 Mbps on the receive path (Download).
