Putting "degrees" on our sins is the way the law works and humankind looks at it that way as well.
We have first degree murder, second degree murder and third degree which I think is "manslaughter".
We also have misdemeanors and felonies and a host of other listed as "breaking of the law".
The Judges have guidelines and pronounce probation to life to death.
God's way of looking at sin is summed up by James 2
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "love your neighbor as yourself", you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
In God's sight, sin is sin whether we steal a penny, a dime, a quarter, dollar, or hundreds, thousands, or millions. Whether is is a penny or a million, God says we have broken the law. Humankind tends to "wink" at the penny thieves, but the big-time embezzlers, etc. our laws will take them on.
However, God doesn't "wink" at sin, be it "small" or "great" but he IS MERCIFUL, so if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Wishing you a great day.
