....as one of those who have complained in the past a little about the overemphasis in this issue on KM. let me lightly complain in the present too. Of course KM and takeover talk brought the spring surge, and indeed some investors and traders took advantage of that ....but me, I did not buy this stock for KM, and I am firmly convinced that AXC would be higher right now if it didn't even exist. Also in my opinion, DST will not even begin to start reaching its full multiyear potential until the latter half of the year when full software support beyond Unix becomes available with the 810 and 812.That's where the growth is, and I am convinced it will be brisk over time.I am not sure of the precise figures for DST sales last year, but their doubling had only a slight effect on the top line, so I imagine they were a rather small percentage of the 71.6 million in revenues from 19mm storage and instrumentation sales. DST is just now beginning....a better mousetrap for a rapidly growing market ....but it is beginning from a very small base, and declining revenues in other areas are for now masking its growth.
KM of course has wonderful potential, and even a modest degree of success will make me mighty happy it is around, but the market's decision to treat this as strictly a KM stock has led to considerable pain among many investors. Maybe considerable joy someday, for those that can hang around long enough. James, I certainly enjoy and appreciate your posts, but good luck with that $1 per platter received for an incremental improvement in a hyper competitive industry already rife with cross licensing. The best chances of a KM home run, lie in an eventual trmendous degree of market penetration ... and that's gotta finally mean MR compatability and exceptional enhancement ... unless AXC and Velocidata can come up with a huge interested ally.
...but I'm quibbling. I continue to really like this stock in the long run ....think its severely undervalued of course vis a vis both present worth and potential. Will wait for the market to come around to our point of view and beyond. One thing about Ampex ....if it ever starts hitting on all cylinders ... the acceleration should last a long time.
