I'm afraid to ask this question on the Q thread, they are so hard on "stupid" comments so you guys will be kinder I know.
Yesterday on the radio an analyst said "Qcom is no longer a phone company: they are now the toll booth between wanting to set up a communications system and setting it up". Now I know that Q has patents on processes for which just about everyone in the business has to pay them royalties. But the "yahoo finance" site says that Qcom "designs, develops, constructs, markets, sells" (and other verbs) wireless communications systems. So that sound sort of like a phone company to me....
What exactly does Qcom do, really..if you can explain it in non-engineering degree terms?
