The e-comm. They DON'T have a strong e-comm division. We're approaching a new millennium where e-comm will be a huge business and CGI want's to be there. Business-to-business e-comm for the financial and insurance industries. That's system integration and business solutions for those two industries.

How do you think CGI will pay for that? CGI currency! That will increase BCE % in CGI and at the same time continue to control BCE Emergis.

They did not buy it before cause IFM was in the red, it needed to secure important contracts, streamline its operations (ie move away from the Business-to-consumer services). Consolidating it in BCE hardly affected BCE's EPS. But in CGI it would have. It's very strategic.

But it will not happen now! I believe it will sometime in the year 2001. 1999-2000 will be the time for the BIG acquisition in the US. I still believe that.

Plus if you think about it, why is IFM the ONLY IT company held Directly by BCE instead of CGI? They're in the IT service business!

And answer this: If you were Monty, what would BCE gain by keeping IFM separate?
