The line in this weeks report that caught my attention was: "Last week Philips and Sony announced plans to use the SM2210 in a box with the TriMedia to make a digital VCR (see TPR, September 13, p. 1459)." TPR, September 13, p. 1459 covers the Philips announcement but no mention of Sony. If the Sony story is true, then what gives with Sony's encoder?
