Stephan,

I have found shorting the indexes is the safest hedge. I have tried to short weak nets and other indevidual stocks but usually have to cover for not much profit, or small loss. Indexes are very tough to get sqweezed on, not manipulated as much. Plus I am confident my longs will outperform the indexes.

Having a short position gives me the confidence to buy certain stocks (ie agil, zoox). At least I have some safety net when the markets get wipdsawed like this week.

Currenlty my longs and shorts are both profitable. I shorted the Dow & SP when the Dow first crossed 11k and have held them since then. I was short LCOS and BNBN but covered for small profits.

I have no set rule on the allocation to shorts.
