El,
I haven't checked in for a while, because I've been ignoring the Pig for my peace of mind. Just to let you know, yesterday I decided to sell the balance of my CPQ shares at a loss, the ones I bought in January at 47 and change. That transaction makes CPQ the absolute worst investment mistake I ever made, and I am well aware that it was my fault. I had an opportunity to take a bunch of gains at 50, and allowed myself to lose rationality in the midst of all of the optimism virtually all of us had going back then. I could go on and on about lessons learned here, but it's not relevant to the thread.
Bottom line of this message: I want to thank you and all of the rest of the thread regulars for all of the valuable contributions you've made to this forum since I started visiting it back in 1997. While there were times (naturally) that I didn't agree with the observations of folks, I always felt that the thread as a whole was the best I'd ever participated in.
I may buy back CPQ at some point, but at the moment I'm on the sidelines waiting until I see some reason to get back into the game. With the falling dollar and the lousy balance of payments position, combined with the possibility of Y2K fears adding to the market's uncertainty, I'm content to be an observer for a while. I understand I'm missing some opportunities, but one thing I've learned for sure is that I'm not a good short term trader.
My best wishes to all of the CPQ thread regulars for as much investment success as possible, because you deserve it.
Regards,
