LWIN spunoff from QCOM last year now expanding service aggressively
Yesterday LWIN announced 2 different deals totalling $700m buying phone equipment and services from LU and ERICY to build mobile phone network, Cricket Communications; also poised to exploit pent up demand for wireless service in emerging markets like Mexico, Chile, and Russia
LWIN not overshadowed by BEL/VOD story; sees themselves filling a market that hasn't been addressed before, not as the 6-7th carrier in some market
75% of LWIN customers never had wireless before; expanding market and seeing tremendous appreciation for having a simple service
Volume up when flat rate put in
Needed to restructure cost to make money in the industry; wanted to deliver service to those 85% of people in this country who would like to have wireless service but were uncertain of it
LWIN changed cost structure and getting more volume
Will be in Nashville before end of year, and a roll out into 25 markets over next couple of years
