Tenchusatsu,

<Probably to gradually ramp down the 0.25 micron fabs by allowing them to continue producing high-speed parts. Even if those parts are going to be sold at lower prices and lower margins than Coppermine parts, it's still enough to extend the life of the Katmai-producing equipment.>

It isn't obvious to me that 133 FSB would be necessary to accomplish a smooth ramp down of 0.25.

<I sure wouldn't mind buying an "obsolete" 600 MHz Katmai for $250 this year, if I wanted to buy a new CPU. Performance might not be as great as Coppermine 600, but for me that's fine if the price is right.>

I am not sure what you are saying here. Are you saying that once CuMine 600/133 is available you would not buy a Katmai 600/100 but would buy a Katmai 600/133? IMHO, unless AMD completely falls flat on the face, the days of the third highest speed grade fetching $200 are behind us (other than on Pricewatch). Which means the delta between 133/100 FSB at the 600 MHz speed grade is going to be pretty small. (even lower for the 533 MHz speed grade)

<Come to think of it, this could also bring some pricing pressure on the 600 MHz Athlon, which will definitely be hitting higher volumes in Q4.>

I doubt if 600/133 would put any more pressure than 600/100! Especially when you consider the likely hood that 600MHz is going to be at best the third fastest speed grade for AMD.
