Hi Michelle:

Re: Wouldn't you rather invest in a paranoid company vs. an arrogant one?

I don't think either characteristic is material to an investment decision. The adjectives you cite refer to attitude, not performance.

A company can be paranoid & still "miss the boat." OTOH, a company can be arrogant, & use that attitude sniff out new opportunities yet still keep a lid on the competition.

I wouldn't misplace arrogance for short-sightedness, nor would I necessarily conclude that paranoia and arrogance are mutually exclusive. The latter appears to be more discernible to the marketplace, while the former may be a necessary latent trait necessary for survival, as Andy Grove as postulated.
