RE: <You'll notice that even Intel is softening its stance on RDRAM. From a CNET article posted a few days back, "Intel says it has billed Rambus not as a miracle cure for PC performance today but as a necessary step in coming years to be able to take advantage of ever-faster processors.">

Yes, there is some change on Intel's position on Rambus though it is far from clear. But up until about a month ago they were just shoveling the bull at full speed. Maybe they are less biased than they were. I wonder why? But let me give you a clue, Tench, everyone thinks they are open minded and the other guy is biased. Up until about a month ago this thread was almost totally biased in favor of Rambus. In recent weeks it has become more balanced and much more interesting. Previously it didn't deserve to be called a Discussion thread.

RE: <KZ, if you really believe those benchmarks, then I'm afraid there's not much more we can talk about without this degenerating into a flamewar.>

I don't believe those benchmarks. I only mentioned them because you suggested that their existence somehow lended credibility to Rambus. At least that is how I interpreted: <We've seen a lot of "benchmarks" regarding RDRAM performance, even though some may be way off the mark, but we've seen absolutely no DDR "benchmarks," good or bad.>
