Yes, no doubt it would freak me out living where you live... in fact, these days, living in just about any city would do that to me. Don't get me wrong... I've lived in a couple of large cities in the past, but not really by choice. I've crammed into crowded subway cars and buses and driven on busy elevated expressways and interchanges, but it just isn't a lifestyle that I would choose for myself.
Fortunately, many people thrive on the "hustle and bustle" of the city and enjoy all that large cities have to offer. And I will admit that I enjoy the occasional foray into the market area or to galleries, museums, or theatres, but I don't feel like I "belong" there. I'm not at ease at all... just as many urban people feel completely out of their element in the wilderness. I've had city friends visit here at the farm and be freaked out by the bugs and not being able to see even one light from another house when the total blackness of night descends. The usual reaction is, "How can you STAND it HERE??!!"... while I think to myself, "How can you STAND it THERE??!!"..(-:
But that's OK... Good thing we don't all want the same thing or there would be nobody to do the farming, or to work in some office tower... |
