I dont think this is a surprise. Compaq would see about as much interest in Tru64 unix on Merced as they see on Alpha - which is none. The viable OS's are Linux, Monterey and Solaris. Monterey is a mystery because only SCO has a real vested interest in seeing it succeed as IBM can position NT, or AIX or Linux just as adroitly on Merced.
