Really? Is it really strange that someone might find the maudlin parade of the last few days a bit boring, a bit OVER the TOP. I mean 1. you have a kid smart enough to GO to college 2. you have the bucks to SEND them to college (or they are smart enough to get a scholarship- even better) and you can put that in the context of GRIEF? I think even the Kennedy plane crash is more grief-worthy than sending the kids off to college.

I grant you grief is obviously a personal thing and apparently I am a bit less apt to grieve than the average feelie denizen of the moment- but I find grieving over a healthy kid growing up very very strange indeed. Grieving over one's own death makes sense, and the growth of one's children means one is closer to the grave, but getting all stern and serious and moralizing that people who don't understand this "grief" are somehow to be pitied or strange strikes me as very, very funny. So thanks for the entertainment- the laughs have been few and far between lately.
