Joel: My vote is with SpudFarmer: Dr J's style is that of a careful, thinking person by all the evidence. The possibility of someone buying the Q is always out there. Certainly Dr J sees that. His point was to say a bit about what kind of company he was looking for to take over the "handset" division. And he made clear his primary interest is in a company that will be best for the Q in the future. That does not seem like an indication he has any intention of "shopping" the Q.

Note after selling Linkabit he seems to have found just having money not very fulfilling and preferred the challenge of starting the Q. When he no longer sees any challenge running the Q, then he may be interested in selling the company. But with the opportunities with the wireless/internet nexus and other possibilities right now, and the row to hoe on worldwide build out, would seem like he must be enjoying leading the company as he does.
