JB -
Regarding HDSL, ADSL, Adtran, etc. - I know the buzz words and a few "buzz" companies (Westell, Amati) but I know nothong of real significance.
In the VERY distant future, my PRAYER is that optical fiber BUNDLES will criss cross America (and my street) and provide ubiquitous optical transmission of data.
However, I doubt if this will happen in my lifetime!
As for "hot tips", many technology sectors have been bludgeoned over the past three months, and good companies, facing some short term (hopefully) problems, have seen their stock prices cut by 50% to 75%. You apparently own/follow 3COM, and it's a prime example.
My guess is the best of these will recover over a 9 to 18 month period, and so represent good opportunites today.
A company (symbol CIEN ??) made a big splash the other week with an IPO - I beleive they are developing wavelength Divsion multiplexing for broadband optical data transmission. This may be a technology champion in a few years. Check it out. (I don't own any - yet)
