Everything that Liberty invests in has a long term destination. IMO, John Malone brokered the deal which became the GI/ACTV advertising venture. Last November Malone convened a summit in Denver with all the big advertising agencies and their largest clients in attendance. The purpose was to pick their brains on what would excite them about interactive advertising. I believe Malone already knew where he was taking them.

What is also interesting is that former TCI executives Jerry Machovina and Leo Hindery were also in attendance. Machovina is now executive VP of AT&T Media Services while Hindery heads AT&T BIS. All the agencies and companies mentioned in the recent release on Safeway going interactive were at that summit in Denver last November.

Laurie Priddy the head of AT&T's Interactive Offerings Group reports directly to Leo Hindery who is a rabid fan of ACTV.

When the news starts to come out on the GI/ACTV advertising venture you can count on the biggest and the best signing on.
