If I may... The decision to own a handgun is best not undertaken lightly. Say you select a model and buy it. At that point you become responsible for its care and its proper storage. You will want to shoot it regularly ... and to keep from getting eaten up alive by the Neiman-Marcus cost of factory ammo I recommend learning to handload the spent shells. In the course of being a firearm owner/operator you will become aware of the constant subtle denigration being heaped upon civil gun owners in the press. (A woman in Oakland gets knifed. What generic icon for "violent crime" does the anchorbabe throw on the TV screen? A handgun.) You will want to choose a side in the fight for the RKBA. And in that eventuality the NRA is put'near the only show in town. In for a penny ... in for a pound. :-)
