I know that there are several reasons for going with RCC's server chipset, but are you sure that the rejection of the RDRAM repeater hub is one of the primary reasons? If anything, it could have been just a side issue. I think the main reason why RCC's chipset is being used is that it covers gaps in Intel's server chipset roadmap. The fact that RCC uses SDRAM (over RDRAM) isn't relevant.
