Perhaps, Brinker has grown testy because another caller has
uttered that most hackneyed and noxious radio talk show
doggerel, "Thank you for taking my call."

What the devil is Brinker or any other talk show host there for
if not to "take the call"! If nothing else, the host should thank
the caller for telephoning, lest there be no show to broadcast. I'd
be testy, too, if I had to wade through legion dunderheads spouting
that dim-witted, automaton cliche'.
