Gary, Russo stated that they are experts in the optical area and if you need proof, look at the 2,000 patents. Purchasing two companies doesn't make Cisco an expert in the Optical area. This is the point of the statement, not your misunderstanding of the Csco/Lucent settlement. Indicating that Russo made a blunder is your blunder and misunderstanding of the article. The article then goes on to say what else is required to win in the optical area... like service. PS. Lucent has thousands of patents and you think they would agree to settle with Cisco that has only 100, 200 maybe 300 patents in total? If you believe that, I have some great land in Florida to sell you.
