Jerry,

I use to train retrievers both dry land and water, Goldens, Labradors, and Cheasapeakes. That's a great feeling of pride to see your dog win!

I'm guessing that the test on the downside will hold the levels that we established this week since I am assuming that the stock market has already factored in 1/4 point interest rates hikes in May and July.

So in my mind right now I'm thinking up, then down, then stabilize then back up on equipment stocks for the rest of 1997. I cruise Zack's earnings reports regularly; and I've noticed that projections which brokerage firms are posting for FY 1998 on equipment stocks keep creeping up. So long term (12 months) equpment stocks should go up. But I think that we can ride the wave up here for a while and then probably after the May 14th AMAT earnings release, look for a little steam to go out of the sector.... Perhaps hold short positions just on a daily basis....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
