A thought:

Perhaps Taiwan is affecting VECO's stock price. (Notwithstanding today's market action) It can be speculated that if the Motherboard makers can't ramp back up quickly, computer sales may be affected in the 4Q because no parts, no computers. Therefore DD shipments will be fewer, and fewer GMR heads in those DDs. I may take a quarter or two for supply to get back in balance, and the DD makers will have less of an urgency to tool up for more near-term GMR capacity. Thus some earnings pressure in the 4Q for VECO. Most DDs, if not all, DDs are made outside of Taiwan, but 80% or so of the Motherboards are made in Taiwan. So while there could be plenty of DDs available for those computers, the main parts won't be there, thus a glut of DDs available and more price erosion for an already weak sector. Not pretty. Time to short Seagate?
