, life on earth, and very likely earth itself will be gone.
We have a few million years left and the good scientists of the future may be able to figure something out by then. I'll be long past caring.

I believe there is something more to come
I'm sure you do, after all you have said it before and nobody would know better than yourself. I find it unproductive to wish and hope my way into the future, I prefer to do what I can to leave my children's children a better spot on this earth than I inherited from my parents.

I guess if there is one area in the life after death philosophy that irks me, it is that faith based christains have no incentive to preserve the planet we are on, or the diversity of species, or the smooth progress of our cultures. All that's needed is faith in the lord and you will be a happy camper for all eternity. Is the rainforest gone along with the ozone? - Doesn't matter there will be a better world after this. Dig up that last bit of gold in the ground? -Sure I can make a candlestick and that will help get my wings where I don't have to look at any hole in the ground. It's a very selfish philosophy, the only important things are those that secure that ticket to heaven.

There are some of us who think where we are is the best we are going to do unless we think up and complete some alternatives. Wishing and hoping are just not going to cut it.
