You seem to be getting heated... calm down my friend. I just went back and read the article and the implication was that LU's 2000 patents are more important than are two acquistions...nothing about the fact that having 2000 patents are proof that LU is the leader in optics. LU and CSCO aren't selling patents for if they were there is no doubt that LU would be the king! Cerent and Monterry represent technology that, per Russo's statement, LU will have...not already has. So, given that it would seem that CSCO has a slight edge - yes - in product - not patents.

As for the settlement. Let me see your land my friend. The deal was a cross licensing deal. I have no doubt that it does not cover microelectronics or foundries, but I am certain that it covers communications. I wonder how many of the 2000 patents deal with communications over glass...those are likely the ones that apply. And, well..that's all that matters to Cisco.

In the meantime please calm down. The market will come back in November. Don't let a down day get to you ;)
