Jon- more on the Red sea.
Did Moses part the Red Sea? That story to me is a legend, like Paul Bunyan
Then to you is the whole of the scripture "legend"?
God said: .....But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD."
Moses did not part the sea, God did, and all Israel passed through and all the Egyptian soldiers were drowned. Exodus 14.
Even this act signifies much in our own walk.
1.Even as Israel was backed up with no place to turn, they cried out. (We are as them. We have no one to turn to for salvation, save God. ) 2.They were told to stand and watch the Lord save them.(No different than today, no work can save us, any work is but a response to faith, after all Israel DID have to WALK through the sea.)
3.They underwent their own "type" of baptism as Paul said:(1Cor. 10:2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. Same as now; we are baptized into Christ's death and raised in newness and victory, just as Israel went out of the water to the other side.
The Psalmist say this: to him who divided the Red Sea asunder His love endures forever. and brought Israel through the midst of it, His love endures forever. but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea; His love endures forever.
The Canaanites said this: "I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you."
So their was a lot of people who did and do believe it.To me the most unbelievable part of the story, (or outrageous part) is that Pharoah kept pursuing Israel in the face of God and he paid dearly for it.
Thanks
