Robert,
We should not care about the differentiation of one sin to the next, sin is sin!!!! The amount of sins you commit really doesn't matter either. One sin is all you need to need Jesus as Lord and Savior! The idea is, try not to sin at all and you will be a better person.
"If having an abortion, or performing an abortion is no worse a sin than cursing, why don't anti-abortion people spend more time picketing bars and sports events, where there is a lot of lying and cursing?"
They have every right too....
Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
But the way you want to tell somebody that they are sinning is lovingly, not picketing or violently.....
Leviticus 19 18 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Matthew 19 19 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "
Galatians 5 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
"If God doesn't care whether someone is having an abortion, or if someone is telling a lie, as far as the level of a sin, why should we? Shouldn't we not follow after God's example?"
God does not care about the level of the sin, one sin is too much. You just need to know to try to avoid sin and live a Godly life. Don't bother ranking, it is a waste of time. Just try, with God's help of course, not to sin at all. God's example tell us not sin. That is what we are to follow.....
"At least you are getting the message out, to anyone reading this thread that is thinking of an abortion, that abortion, as a sin, is no worse than cursing. Since a woman usually does a lot of cursing during the delivery of her child, but little cursing during an abortion, it would seem that giving birth is more of a sin than an abortion"
You are judging with your standards here, and if you want to be judged by your own standards, so be it! But just remember Gods standards are the true standard. And when you meet him, my prayer for you is that you had previously discovered the truth about sin...
God Bless, Steve |
