9/23/99] Beijing - China's Foreign Trade Minister Shi Guangsheng will lead a delegation to Washington for talks Monday and Tuesday on China's bid to enter the World Trade Organization, China's Foreign Ministry said.

Zhang Qiyue, the spokeswoman who made the announcement, declined to say if Shi will bring the same concessions to the negotiating table that Premier Zhu Rongji offered when he visited Washington in April.
''We can only wait and see the result of the talks,'' she said.

China and the U.S. only have a few weeks to reach a deal on the WTO if the agreement is to be approved by the U.S. Congress in time for the start of a new round of global trade talks in Seattle in November.
