Tony - Re: "He said Drew Peck made comments that Intel and some others, Altera mentioned for sure, would not fully recover from effects of the Taiwan earthquake for one to two months. With Intel, they talked motherboards. Altera is fabless, I guess, and relies on the Taiwan foundries to make their chips. "
Drew Peck has demonstrated once again that he is a blithering IDIOT !
Altera has TWO US distributors - each of which maintain a THREE MONTH INVENTORY of Altera Programmable ICs.
Altera itself maintains an IN HOUSE INVENTORY of TWO MONTHS worth of products !
At that rate, Altera would not feel ANY IMPACT until the FIRST quarter of next year - at worst !
And that gives Altera enough time to INCREASE incoming orders - over the next 4 months - to prevent even that much of a hiccup.
Further, Altera receives a significant per centage of their production from a Wafer fab in Camus, Washington, jointly OWNED by Altera and TSMC - which was 8.000 or 9,000 miles AWAY from the Taiwan Earthquake !
Drew Peck's analysis is shabby, shallow, and mostly WRONG !
