Voltaire, Sounds kinda like a conspiracy. Where's the Trilateral Commission in all of this? Are these market manipulations illegal in your opinion? Don't get me wrong - you've made great market calls and I respect your opinion, but how much "Heirarchy" synchronization do you think really goes on? Is it a nudge-nudge wink-wink we're taking the market down today or a more deliberate and far-seeing strategic plan thought up in clandestine meetings in the darkened booths at seedy Wall Street watering holes? Vegas lives off the vig as the brokers and underwriters do. There has to be a certain amount of "manipulation" or the stock prices would never change! Institutions and individuals each have their own place and problems in the market. I can lock in a profit (hopefully) by selling a thousand shares of a given equity without tanking the stock. A mutual or hedge fund selling millions of shares for the same purpose is in a completely different situation. For everyone buying calls on Q or shorting eBay or whatever, somebody's taking the other side of the trade. Is there "corruption" in the market? Yes, I'm sure there is because cash is the coin of the realm. That's how everybody keeps score and somebody's always gonna foot-wedge it. However, I don't think the "Houses" are necessarily any better than you or I at predicting the future (though you have a pretty good track record). Influencing the future is another matter and implies that the analysts, CNBC, Goldman Sachs, Greenspan, Soros, and who knows who else are in cahoots together and are all on the same page at the same time. I don't buy it. I think everyone acts pretty much in their own interest whether an individual or institutional investor. It is unnerving that Ballmer and Bartiroma can move markets like they do, but we're going to have to get used to it. Sightseeing from the black helicopters, C Nelson Reilly
