Taxman,

As a insider, what is the difference if the CEO made the following statements:

1) " I expect Microsoft's stock to hit $130 by the end of this year.
2) " Microsoft's stock price is under valued at the current price "
3) " I expect Microsoft to go down to $45 by the end of the year"
4) " I think Microsoft is very ove valued at the current price "

To me, any of the above statement made by the CEO is to manipulate the stock price , and it is not right , unapporiate, and can be seen as a criminal act. He can talk anything about the business, the future look of the business to either push up / down the stock price, and which will not disturb me at all. However, if the CEO talks directly about the stock price or the valuation of the stock in public , it will make me very uncomfortable. The investors should have the right to file suit or file to the SEC for such statement in public by company's CEO . And , if a big loss occured due to such statement made by the CEO in public, the investor should bring this to the court for compensation !!!
