I'm a Corel shareholder, but I must confess that I discount most of the postings that I see on this thread. I appreciate Robert Lewis for raising genuine concerns. Vettman is ignorant, or a fool, or both. I prefer to use sources outside of the printed media because I believe that the MARKET has discounted all of that information.

Java is riding a groundswell, but at present there is little current profit in the language. I am told that Java has the advantage of being platform-OS agnostic which feeds off an anti-MS reaction. I'm trying to figure out if this is simply a rear guard sideshow with Corel et al. 'kicking up' at the world, or does it represent a new paradigm?

I'm told that Java has some theoretic disadvantages having to do with an extra abstraction layer and a problem with 'stacks'. This makes it inherently slower than the PC environment, and will require kludges like coprocessors to make it competitive. Perhaps someone on this thread who is software literate could illuminate.

Dumb question: what is the Data Base application in the Word Perfect Office Suite?

I would love it if someone besides Corel Bigots would post to this thread. I can justify a few thousand share investment in COSFF on the basis of P:S ratios, and cash flow. But I can't support a real investment with reliance on masticated articles from the national computer press, or cheerleading hopesters and hypsters.
