Re: Because we live in a democracy, the government is necessarily the embodiement

A minor correction Akula, we live in a republic.

Re: When a government provides services, it does not necessarily posit a socialist society.

You statement is correct but I do feel very uncomfortable when in our capitalist society our government is by far the largest employer of the people. Why does it take the majority of our workers to run and control the rest of us?

Re: Slavery would be forced labor with NO rights. If you were taxed 100% (which I do not advocate, lest you be confused), you would not be a slave because you can vote to repeal taxes as well as use forums like this to air your views.

As our taxes are steadily growing to a larger percentage of our paychecks so grows the size of our government. As we grow closer to that 100% taxation rate we are also losing our freedoms one by one. Who's to say we will have the power of the vote left to turn to?

The republicans just passed a repeal or roll back of out federal taxes. The majority of Americans favor tax relief. The voters elected these representatives. Your president vowed to veto this tax relief and will do so.

Ring up another win for the liberals and their big government.
