DaveMG: At last you raise a question I do know a bit about. Several years ago I spotted IDC and it's "threat"[sic.] to the Q. Nope.

IDC does have some patents (including a patent swap or sorts with the Q which did that to get IDC out of its hair) but the key point is that they have been flailing around for years getting nowhere slowly.

The Achilles heel of IDC is that their version of CDMA is OK only for fixed wireless - WLL. Otherwise the Q blocks them. And there are huge economies in combining mobile and WLL in the same system. And the Q has a lock on all those IPR's.

And IDC is about as far from a powerhouse as a company as you can find.

Finally, when I last looked there were zero, count em, zero commercial operating systems in the world using the system that IDC has been trying to "install".

Best.
