There's a school of T/A that maintains that an intra-day piercing of a key support or resistance level is valid only if the support or resistance (be it for a particular stock or a market average) is confirmed by the closing price. I'm not suggesting anything here; only that intra-day "piercings" sometimes result in head-fakes followed by headaches. (Lee)
