Irrespective as to whether speedtest.mybc.com is a valid test of cable modem speed the important point is your cable modem speed is a lot closer to 250 kilobits per second than it is to 250 megabits per second. This means your PII 400 Mhz computer is more than adequate to handle the data stream coming from your real time data provider. As to your computer running with 60% free system resources this has more to do with the number of programs you are simultaneously running and Windows 98 limitations than it has to do with cable modem speed or the amount of memory in your computer. Buying more memory or a faster processor will not free up system resources.
