INKTOMI AND INTERNAP ANNOUNCE
STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Inktomi To Invest $20 Million in InterNAP

SEATTLE, WA, Sept. 20, 1999 - InterNAP Network Services
Corporation today announced a strategic alliance with Inktomi
Corporation (NASDAQ: INKT). Under the alliance, the companies
plan to collaborate on technology integration in an effort to
optimize content distribution and scaling on the Internet. In
addition, under the arrangement the companies will engage in
joint marketing activities and will explore additional joint
technology development.

InterNAP also announced that it has signed an agreement with
Inktomi under which Inktomi will make a $20 million investment in
InterNAP common stock in a private placement closing
concurrently with InterNAP's proposed initial public offering.
Under this agreement, Inktomi will also have the option to
purchase additional equity in InterNAP over the next two years.
InterNAP filed a registration statement on Form S-1 (File No.
333-84035) with the Securities and Exchange Commission on
July 29, 1999.

"This alliance brings together technology and expertise that are
of great importance to the Internet as a whole, as well as for the
fast growing quality-of-service segment of the Internet services
marketplace. This relationship with a premier technology
company such as Inktomi reaffirms our commitment to providing
the best quality IP connectivity and content distribution to our
customers," said Tony Naughtin, InterNAP's President and CEO.
"Content and service providers using Inktomi's Traffic Server
caching platform and our P-NAP connectivity can realize
tremendous improvement in robustness and performance. This is
a combination that will excite many in the industry."

InterNAP's connectivity service routes customer data to and from
destinations on the Internet in a manner that minimizes data loss
by avoiding the Internet's conventional traffic exchange process
known as "peering". InterNAP's P-NAP technology and
ASsimilator(tm) software orchestrate the routing of
mission-critical data in a faster, more reliable, more managed
fashion than conventional Internet technology.

"This sizeable investment in InterNAP demonstrates our faith in
their technology and business model," said David Peterschmidt,
CEO of Inktomi. "Faster, more reliable Internet connectivity is a
wonderful compliment to Inktomi's Traffic Server, which is already
established as the market leading cache platform. The
combination of our Traffic Server with InterNAP's high
performance connectivity represents a great advancement in
scaling the Internet for the benefit of all global Internet users and
especially for those who are our respective customers."

InterNAP services are currently available in New York, San Jose,
Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities. Major
e-commerce companies and networks served by InterNAP
include Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN), Datek Online, Go2Net,
ITXC, The NASDAQ, TheStreet.com(NASDAQ: TSCM) and many
others.
