Anything I am giving now is JMO also,,,which I don't like. But I am not schooled in any religious apologetics or any history, just what I have seen and what little I have read.
My thinking is that now, you may be right. But back then, when the oral word WAS depended on to be accurate, I think the stories were told more often, with more exactness, and almost as training classes. A small example is this passage:
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates..
The importance of the spoken word seemed pretty evident. |
