GST: there were crises and market crashes and gnawing of teeth before, '29, '73-74, '87, etc.
so?
LOOK AT WHERE THE MARKET IS NOW.
HIGHER! MUCH MUCH HIGHER.
is this the best time to initiate a position? probably not.
but that doesn't mean one has to liquidate everything in a panic and run for the hills.
did you do that in 1987? or maybe during last year's crisis? did you liquidate everything on october 8, 1998 and hide under a rock? that probably explains why you sound so gloomy.
investing means riding out these sort of things, unless you need the money in the next few months, in which case you shouldn't be investing in the first place.
even Ballmer yesterday made clear he WASN'T selling his MSFT stock although he thought it was overvalued, neither should you.
i agree with you there is rampant speculation in many areas and sometimes, with certain stocks, there's a total disconnect with reality, valuations in these cases are in the stratosphere.
but that's part of the game, some people will get burnt chasing worthless pieces of paper, other people had made and will make a killing investing in internet blue chips such as AMZN.
if you're a trader, sell now, if you're and investor, sell your AMZN in 2004.
