Jeff, thanks for sharing that. I understand now what you are talking about. How sad!

I'm dumbfounded. I haven't run across such an example in a social situation of petty intolerance, rudeness, and insensitivity on one side and lack of self esteem on the other since high school. (Except on message boards and soap operas, of course <g>.) I'm making jokes, I guess, because I don't know what else to say. If that cook-out was your church group, I suggest you recommend to your minister a sermon on how people are supposed to treat other people. No one should make someone else that uncomfortable with their questions and no one should be embarrassed by any activity that is legal and ethical.
