Maybe the Department of Justice is saying that, but that's not going to have any influence on the decisions a procurement manager in another Federal agency makes. But that's besides the point. The reason I posted the article in the first place was to counter LindyBill's inference that the only thing driving technologies like Linux and Java was a hatred of Microsoft in the software development community. There are economic factors to consider as well. The current Microsoft model of computing is very expensive, and if they don't start taking steps to reduct these total ownership costs, they're going to leave the door open for these other technologies. Which will be just fine for the people on this thread because then we'll get to play a whole new gorilla game figuring out who the new gorilla is going to be.
